Job Summary

Archrock- Electric Motor Drive (EMD) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automation/Controls Engineer to serve as a liaison between Archrock and the control panel manufacturer. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and updating software for our natural gas compression systems.

Familiarity with natural gas compressors is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and Implementation :
  • Collaborate with the panel manufacturer to design control systems and software for natural gas compression units.
  • Develop and implement automation solutions to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Create and maintain documentation for control systems, including schematics, diagrams, and software code.
  1. Software Development and Updates :
  • Develop, test, and deploy software updates for control systems.
  • Ensure that all software updates are thoroughly tested and meet quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control software and systems.
  1. Liaison Duties:
  • Act as the primary point of contact between TOPS and the panel manufacturer.
  • Facilitate clear communication and collaboration between internal teams and external partners.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the panel manufacturer and other stakeholders.
  1. Project Management:
  • Manage automation and control projects from concept to completion.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for improving control systems and automation processes.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance system performance and efficiency.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in automation and controls.
  1. Training and Support:
  • Provide training and technical support to internal teams and end-users.
  • Develop training materials and documentation to assist with the operation and maintenance of control systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in automation and control systems engineering, preferably within the natural gas compression industry.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagram.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Commitment to safety and quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with natural gas compressors and related control systems.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific software and tools.
