This position provides anesthetic care for all types of patients and procedures in cooperation with the supervising or medically directing physician and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. This position administers anesthesia to patients rendering them insensitive to pain during surgery/procedures. Provide continuous vigilant observation of patients by monitoring the patient’s physical reaction to sedatives, analgesics, and anesthetic agents and informs the surgeon/anesthesiologist of any adverse condition that potentially threatens the safety or care of the patient. Minimum qualifications include current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of West Virginia or applicable state, and board certification or recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists. Core duties include maintaining patient safety, airway management, working within clinical privileges, infection risk minimization, confidentiality, pre-anesthetic evaluation, performing anesthetic techniques, monitoring patient response, managing anesthesia process, administering IV fluids and blood products, documenting patient status, equipment safety checks, surgical site verification, communication with care team, emergency anesthesia care, teaching and evaluation of new CRNAs, and controlled substances accountability. Physical requirements include ability to see details at close range, calmness under stress, reliability, openness to change, and ability to work congenially with diverse individuals. Working environment may involve exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous compounds, and requires adherence to safety guidelines. The position may require on-call, night, weekend, and holiday work.
