Cross-Functional Store Manager in Training

Position Overview: As a Cross-Functional Store Manager in Training at CarMax, you will lead and develop a dynamic team of 10-15 associates to deliver an unbeatable selling experience to our customers. This role ensures active participation in the sales process while fostering a culture of continuous learning and support for the CarMax sales methodology. You will oversee various store operations, aiming to exceed sales targets and implement CarMax policies effectively.

Team Overview: This role partners closely with the Location General Manager and other business leaders to ensure seamless execution of CarMax policies and cultivate a high-performing team that provides exceptional customer service and achieves store performance metrics.

Role Responsibilities:

• Strategize to meet store budgets and performance goals according to corporate and leadership guidelines.
• Proactively plan daily operations based on customer volume and staffing needs.
• Analyze store performance and report results to the Location General Manager and relevant managers.
• Monitor staffing levels and adjust based on business demands.
• Open and close the store on schedule while providing operational oversight.
• Manage all aspects of key business areas and operating protocols by leading teams and navigating challenges.
• Foster positive associate relations and facilitate associate development through ongoing feedback and performance reviews.
• Quickly resolve associate issues and collaborate with appropriate stakeholders.
• Lead the recruitment, training, and promotion of associates to support growth and store operations.
• Oversee training activities that enhance customer experiences across various business areas.
• Engage with customers to address feedback and improve experiences.
• Collaborate with departments and regional teams as needed.
• Ensure adherence to asset protection and risk management protocols.
• Manage cash and payment procedures related to vehicle sales and purchases.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to reduce waste and enhance efficiency.
• Maintain compliance with all CarMax policies, including attendance and professional standards.
• Demonstrate financial responsibility through effective P&L management.
• Utilize CarMax software and tools effectively.
• Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Possess a valid driver's license compliant with CarMax Driver Safety standards.
