Job Title: Lab Technologist
Job Description

We are seeking a Lab Technologist for the HLA Paternity division. In this role, you will perform genome-wide and targeted genetic analysis for paternity testing. You will be part of a team that directly helps individuals learn about their ancestry and understand their genetic health risks.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in laboratory, medical, chemistry, biology, medical laboratory techniques.
• Experience with DNA, PCR, microbiology, pipetting, instrumentation, DNA extraction, and titration.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Technology.
• 1-3 years of industry experience.

Work Environment

You will work in a fast-paced lab environment and may be asked to support other departments within the DNA identification testing division. The work site is located in Burlington, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
