HORTICULTURAL MAINTENANCE/GARDENER
Positions available in our Landscape Maintenance Division where you would be managing and maintaining high-quality residential and commercial sites, including private gardens, landscape beds, plantings and shrub beds. Duties include weeding, weed control, gardening, planting, light landscape work and utilizing proper horticultural practices/pruning techniques.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Positive and energetic outlook; ability to work in small groups as well as be self motivated
Accomplish tasks within work guidelines/manage time effectively but also be able to creatively problem solve
Possess the ability to interface with clients on-site, fielding questions and concerns in a professional and respectful manner
Valid and insurable Wisconsin Drivers License with ability to commute to the shop on Madison’s far west side
Valid and insurable Wisconsin Commercial Drivers License would be a plus
Possession of or ability to obtain a Wisconsin Pesticide applicators License 3.0 (most positions)
Physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and to work a minimum of 8 hours a day in a variety of weather conditions performing physical labor. Seasonal Hours 40+
Ability to responsibly and safely operate and perform general maintenance on equipment
Mandatory winter work consists of snow removal plow truck operators and/or snow blower/shovel crew members. On-call per event.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL HORTICULTURAL CREW MEMBER POSITIONS
Willing and able to learn the trade and do the work
Willing to train qualified and motivated applicants.
Ability and willingness to safely work with the people who apply pesticides and herbicides
Ability to relate additional horticultural needs to other departments/customer liaison as needed: to communicate with fellow workers, clients, and management
Ability to take direction and be motivated to work as part of a team, complete work in a timely, professional and safe manner and maintain a functional, neat working space while on a property; Organize and oversee materials, equipment and tools loading/unloading
QUALIFICATIONS FOR HORTICULTURAL FOREMAN POSITION
Degree/Certificate in Horticulture or related field; Applicants should have perennial and landscape plant knowledge, practical, horticultural knowledge across a wide spectrum, soil and plant health, pest and disease identification
Minimum 2 years horticulture experience
Should have ability to oversee, direct and train as needed, a crew of up to 4 members.
Manage and problem-solve projects; coordinate with Landscape Division manager for job information and directions
Maintain all paperwork and records to ensure timely and proper completion of all work and booking records for hours, materials, etc.
Ability to take direction and motivated to work as part of a team
Complete work in a timely, professional and safe manner and maintain a functional, neat working space while on a property
Organize and oversee materials, equipment and tools loading/unloading
