Position Type: Classified Staff/MAINTAINER ELECTRICIAN Date Posted: 4/24/2025 Location: Haskett Drive - Project Maintain / Grounds Date Available: 06/01/2025 Closing Date: 07/01/2025 Nassau BOCES, an educational Agency in Nassau County, seeks an individual with extensive experience in installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems, equipment and fixtures in educational and administration facilities. Under direct supervision, the position requires the use of judgement and skill. Responsibilities include the following: Install, repair and maintain all electrical systems. Troubleshoot, locate and correct power failures, short circuits, and other electrical malfunctions. Install open and concealed wiring and lighting fixtures. Perform emergency repairs to elevators, generators and other types of electrical devices and instruments. Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of electrical devices, instruments, appliances and equipment. Prepare labor and material cost estimates and maintain records. Perform a variety of non-electrical maintenance and repair tasks as required. Applicant must have knowledge, skills and abilities in the following areas: Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in the electrician's trade. Knowledge of electrical codes and standards related to electrical work. Skill in the care and use of electrician's tools and equipment. Ability to install, alter, repair, maintain and troubleshoot a variety of electrical devices, instruments, appliances and equipment. Ability to interpret and work from technical sketches, blueprints and CAD drawings. Qualification Requirements: Completion of vocational school training, and four years of satisfactory experience in the electrical trades, or six years of satisfactory experience in the electrical trades. Licensed electrician preferred. Valid NY State driver's license. Salary commensurate with experience.
