SUMMARY:

This Mortgage and Collections Coordinator maintains a close, professional relationship with all Habitat homeowners and works directly with Habitat homeowners who are in arrears to assist them in getting current. Additionally, the Mortgage and Collections Coordinator is responsible for maintaining all mortgage and escrow accounts for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge, Inc (Habitat). The Mortgage and Collections Coordinator processes all Habitat mortgage payments in the mortgage system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Mortgage and Collections Coordinator works directly with all homeowners in arrears to assist them in getting current. This includes, but is not limited to, calling homeowners in arrears, sending letters and holding meetings.
  • The Mortgage and Collections Coordinator maintains approximately 250 mortgage records through the mortgage software, Keystone. Inputs all mortgage payments made by homeowners.
  • The Mortgage and Collections Coordinator oversees escrow account analysis and management for all Habitat homeowners. Oversees the recording and analysis of all escrow disbursements for homeowners’ insurance premiums, flood insurance premiums and property taxes.
  • The Mortgage and Collections Coordinator oversees the assistance of homeowners with obtaining new quotes for homeowner and flood insurance as needed.
  • The Mortgage and Collections Coordinator prepares monthly reporting of mortgages, delinquencies and assists with reconciling the mortgage system to accounting system.
  • The Mortgage and Collections Coordinator performs monthly reporting for all mortgages that are sold to financial institutions.
  • The Mortgage and Collections Coordinator Coordinates mortgage pay offs including calculating the payoff amounts, coordinating with the homeowners, and filing mortgage cancellations with the Clerk of Court
  • The Mortgage and Collections Coordinator performs monthly credit reporting for all active mortgages.
  • The Mortgage and Collections Coordinator coordinates foreclosures when all other options have been exhausted. Works closely with the Executive Director to recommend upcoming foreclosures. Works with foreclosure attorney to provide all necessary information for filing and execution.
  • The Mortgage and Collections Coordinator maintains confidentiality of all personal homeowner information.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:

  • Collections experience required.
  • Experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable or Mortgage Servicing preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience working with the low-income population preferred.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to speak effectively and maintain productive relationships with Habitat staff, board members, partner families and volunteers.
  • Ability to de-escalate tense situations with empathy and problem-solving mentality.

Organizational Skills:

Strong planning and organizational skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities.

Computer Literacy:

  • Mastery of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Ability to learn Habitat’s mortgage database software, Keystone.

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with arms. May have to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
  • May be exposed to outside weather conditions, including extreme heat, when working on construction site for occasional staff build days.
  • Normal office conditions when working in the office.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
