Job Title: Pharmacist Compounding Pharmacy

Job Overview: As a pharmacist in a compounding pharmacy, you will be responsible for preparing customized medications based on individual patient prescriptions. This includes compounding medications in various forms such as creams, ointments, capsules, and injectable solutions. You will ensure that all compounded medications meet safety, regulatory, and quality standards while providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

    1. Compounding Medications:

      • Prepare compounded medications as per physician prescriptions, ensuring accuracy in measurements, ingredients, and instructions.
      • Compound medications in various forms including oral, topical, sterile, and non-sterile preparations.
      • Follow established formulas and procedures for compounding medications, while adhering to safety protocols.
    2. Patient and Physician Consultation:

      • Provide guidance to patients and physicians regarding compounded medication usage, dosage, and side effects.
      • Offer consultation on alternative treatment options when necessary.
    3. Quality Control and Compliance:

      • Ensure that compounded medications comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), USP standards, and local regulatory requirements.
      • Maintain accurate records of compounded prescriptions and prepare reports for regulatory bodies when necessary.
      • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and maintain proper storage of chemicals and compounded medications.
    4. Inventory Management:

      • Order and manage inventory for compounding materials and supplies.
      • Verify the quality and expiration of raw materials before use in compounding.
    5. Pharmacy Operations:

      • Maintain a clean and sterile compounding environment.
      • Assist in pharmacy operations, including prescription filling, dispensing, and patient medication counseling.
      • Handle patient inquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
    6. Education and Training:

      • Stay up-to-date with the latest compounding techniques, trends, and regulations.
      • Provide training and guidance to pharmacy technicians and other staff on proper compounding procedures.
    7. Safety and Risk Management:

      • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed to minimize risks related to the handling of hazardous materials.
      • Conduct regular safety checks and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Qualifications:

    • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
    • Active pharmacy license in the state of practice.
    • Previous experience in a compounding pharmacy setting is preferred.
    • Knowledge of compounding standards, USP regulations, and cGMP.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand for long periods.
    • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 30 lbs.
    • Comfortable working with chemicals and in sterile environments.
