Phlebotomist at Providence Health and Services summary:

The Phlebotomist role involves blood sample collection, specimen handling, patient registration, and operation of laboratory information systems in a hospital setting. The position requires certification and relevant experience in phlebotomy, supporting clinical laboratory functions and training new staff. This role is critical in providing accurate diagnostic specimens and contributing to patient-centered healthcare services.

Description

All Sites: Reception and Telephone duties & proficient operation laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems; specimen handling: receiving and processing; prep & shipping of lab specimens for at Reference Laboratories; specimen/patient registration; phlebotomy - collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick; therapeutic blood collection; swab collection of specific Micro samples (per competency); assignment to OP Lab locations; training new staff as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Upon hire: Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification
  • 6 months of Direct experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training and Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy training Program/Course approved by WA State.
