This is a part-time position, 20 to 25 hours per week, Monday-Friday 7pm-midnight.
Position Overview: Prepare, operate, clean and maintain Goss Urbanite Press and perform all required tasks needed to print a daily newspaper.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform daily, weekly or other periodic maintenance and cleaning of the press.
2. Clean, grease and set up for the next pressruns as directed.
3. Set up paper for the next run, moving paper into position and shafting paper as needed.
4. If working in the plate room, load plates in CTP unit, punch, bend and otherwise prepare plates for the upcoming press run.
5. Perform required tasks needed during the press run to insure the quality of the printed product.
THIS JOB HAS PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. The job is physical, and the pressman must be physically fit enough to work around machinery.
All duties usually involve the following physical movement such as: • Standing • Kneeling • Bending • Climbing • Leaning • Reacting very quickly • Attention to detail • Ability to move about and perform needed adjustments to press in a quick manner • Ability to work in an extremely noisy environment using hearing protection as provided
