Job Summary:
The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance processes in a manufacturing environment. This role includes processing and maintaining document certifications, performing inspections, and ensuring products meet customer and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with precision measuring equipment, document control, ISO 9001:2015 compliance, and quality control methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action Requests (CAR). The Quality Control Supervisor will also be responsible for monitoring production quality issues, conducting inspections, and handling non-conformities.
Key Responsibilities:
Documentation and Certification Maintenance:
Process and maintain document certifications, including control plans, process sheets, and other relevant documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Handle document control and ensure up-to-date records are maintained for internal and external audits.
Precision Measuring and Inspection:
Perform inspections using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and check gauges.
Conduct first and last piece inspections to ensure product compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
Monitor production processes and complete inspection sheets with detailed and accurate data.
Perform routine inspections of receiving materials, internal parts, and finished goods, and issue rejections when necessary.
ISO 9001:2015 Compliance and Auditing:
Ensure familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standards and maintain compliance across the production process.
Participate in internal and external ISO audits to ensure processes and documentation meet requirements.
PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and FAI (First Article Inspection):
Oversee and coordinate the submission and approval of PPAP and FAI documents.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address issues related to PPAP and FAI, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
Non-Conformities and Corrective Actions:
Assist in resolving non-conformities found during inspections, documenting findings, and supporting the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Assist in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action Request (CAR) processes to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.
Production Monitoring and Data Entry:
Monitor ongoing production processes to ensure they meet quality standards, filling out detailed inspection sheets for documentation.
Use basic computer skills to enter data into quality control databases, generate reports, and maintain inspection records.
Team Leadership and Training:
Supervise quality control inspectors and provide guidance on best practices for inspections and quality assurance.
Ensure all team members are properly trained in quality processes, equipment usage, and ISO standards.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
Control Plans and Auditing Support:
Participate in the development and implementation of control plans to standardize production quality.
Support document audits to ensure that processes align with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
Additional Responsibilities:
Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) is preferred.
Ability to work overtime as needed to meet production or audit deadlines.
Issue rejections for non-conforming materials, internal parts, and finished goods as necessary.
Assist with training on quality systems and document control.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in a quality control role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
Experience with document control, first and last piece inspections, and precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, tape measures, check gauges).
Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standards and experience with PPAP, FAI, and document auditing.
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action Request (CAR) experience.
