Job Description
We are seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to provide the following services:
Ability to work with individuals who experience symptoms of acute and persistent mental illness and substance abuse/dependence.
Knowledge and skill in the application of theory, practices, principles, and techniques of the nursing profession; ability to understand, interpret and relate oral and written instructions; ability to explain medical instructions in consumer and their families, ability to organize and supervise the work of other professional and nonprofessional employees; considerable knowledge of the area of work and medications; ability to gain the confidence of patients and to work effectively with them.
Assist consumers in gaining skills to address problems.
Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team approach.
Ability to set limits and maintain a helping role and to intervene appropriately to meet the needs of persons or families served.
This position is for NIGHT SHIFT at the Balsam Center, a 16 bed inpatient psychiatric unit that specializes in psychiatric and addiction treatment for adults. The Balsam Center, a part of Appalachian Community Services, offers effective and evidence-based care for 7 counties in Western North Carolina.
