Special-Ed Teacher (1.0 FTE) SciTech Academy Charter School Richfield MN

SciTech Academy seeks a Special Education Teacher for K-8th grades in an inclusion/resource setting for the 2024-25 School Year.

JOB GOAL :

The candidate will work collaboratively with the general education teachers, Paraprofessionals, and administrators to develop classroom strategies and implement individualized instruction to meet the needs of each student on the caseload.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelors Degree in Education / Behavioral Science
2. MN State Certification in Special Education
3. Knowledge of all areas of Special Education programs for exceptional children, child development, Special Education laws, procedures, compliance, and due process.
4. Skill to work comfortably and competently with administrators, teachers, classified personnel, parents, and students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Modify and develop daily curriculum and techniques required for the individual learning goals.
2. Develop an approved lesson plan to meet the standards of curriculum provided by the school district.
3. Consistently communicate with parents, administrators, teachers, and other professionals to develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for each student.
4. Act as IEP facilitator and collaborator between Special Education and General Education teachers.
5. Monitor student progress and participate in the review and revision of IEP as appropriate.
6. Complete report cards and progress reports on each student's progress.
7. Maintain appropriate student data and other records and submit reports as required.
8. Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
9. Assist other professional staff with learning disorders, planned remediation development, and student progress evaluation.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: Grade K-8 elementary level teaching experience with solid competency in literacy, writing, and reading, instruction experience, and working with students from diverse backgrounds and ELL populations in an urban environment.
