Day to day:
The role involves managing a broad range of general accounting functions, including identifying and recommending solutions for complex or unusual transactions to ensure compliance with corporate policies and GAAP. Responsibilities include reconciling bank accounts, fixed assets, intercompany balances, and general ledger accounts, as well as preparing monthly journal entries for revenue recognition, payroll, accruals, and other financial activities. The position also requires maintaining fixed asset schedules to ensure accurate classification and depreciation and working closely with external accountants to support a timely and accurate month-end close. Additional duties include reviewing source documents for proper accounting treatment and participating in special projects as needed. As the audit and tax liaison, the role coordinates data flow with external accounting firms, responds to auditor inquiries, and maintains organized, auditable records. The position also plays a key role in systems enhancement initiatives, particularly in transitioning ERP and accounts payable systems from external providers to internally managed platforms.
