Start Date: ASAP

Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (30 mins lunch)

Type: Full-time, Long-term (for the rest of the academic year)

Pay: £13.69 - £15.87 per hour

Reeson Education is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Denton area (M34). This Teaching Assistant role is a full-time, long-term position supporting two Year 6 pupils on a one-to-one basis who have SEMH needs. The school is looking for a confident, empathetic, and proactive Teaching Assistant who can provide consistent emotional and behavioural support to help pupils regulate, re-engage, and thrive in their learning environment.

About the Role - Teaching Assistant:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting two Year 6 pupils with SEMH needs who can become easily dysregulated. Your role will involve helping them to manage emotions, understand triggers, and respond calmly to challenging situations. You will be working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral staff to ensure both pupils feel supported, valued, and motivated to achieve.

Key responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant include:

• Providing consistent one-to-one support for two pupils with SEMH needs in Year 6.
• Helping pupils process emotions and manage behaviour in a calm, positive way.
• Encouraging self-regulation and supporting social and emotional development.
• Working alongside teachers to adapt tasks and provide targeted interventions.
• Using positive behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches.
• Supporting classroom routines and helping pupils reintegrate after dysregulation.
• Communicating effectively with the wider staff team to ensure a consistent approach.

Requirements - Teaching Assistant:

• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural, or emotional needs.
• Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and de-escalating situations calmly.
• A nurturing, patient, and resilient approach to supporting children.
• Ability to think on your feet and respond quickly to pupils' needs.
• Team Teach training desirable (not essential but advantageous).
• DBS on the Update Service would be highly beneficial (to enable a quicker start).
