Job Description & RequirementsHiring Process & Assignment Details (ICU Float Pool)\n\nInterview Process: Candidate interview → MedSol Clinical Team interview. (No unit manager involvement)\n\nRadius Rule: 60-mile zone. Drivers license required. Travelers may float anywhere within the entire 60-mile zone—no home base facility. Housing must allow full-zone floating.\n\nFloating Expectations: Float to any ICU type (MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU) and may float to PCU/Stepdown or MS/Tele as needed.\n\nOrientation: Must be in-state for orientation week. 1–2 days with preceptor.\n\nRatios: Typically 1:1–2, may flex to 1:3 based on acuity.\n\nRequired Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC.\n\nExperience Requirements:\n\n2+ years ICU experience required\n\nFirst-time travelers must have 3+ years ICU + Epic experience\n\nSkills Needed: Must titrate all critical drips (pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, insulin, heparin, etc.).\n\nSupport Staff: No nurse aides except sitters. RT available 24/7 but may not be on unit constantly. RNs must assist with respiratory equipment (vent, CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC).\n\nTele: No monitor techs—RNs read their own strips.\n\nScheduling: 7a–7p or 7p–7a. Leadership schedules 6 weeks at a time. Flexibility required. PTO must be submitted before start.\n\nWeekend Requirement: 6–9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.\n\nHoliday Requirement: May be included in rotation.\n\nCall/Standby: Rare, only for low census.\n\nDress Code: Any color scrubs.\n\nFacilities You May Float To (Zone 1 – Colorado Springs):\nSt. Francis Medical Center, St. Francis InterQuest, St. Mary Corwin, St. Thomas More.\nFirst float location will be assigned by your start date.
