As a US Trusts & Estates Attorney - Vice President, Assistant General Counsel in our Trust & Estates legal team, you will be part of a small, dynamic team of experienced lawyers. You will have the opportunity to become a specialist in focused areas impacting the trusts and estates business, while interacting daily with JPMorgan's Trust & Estate professionals. Job Responsibilities:

  1. Provide legal advice and support to the US Trusts & Estates business.
  2. Research and analyze US state statutes, common law, and state-specific variations of uniform laws.
  3. Interpret estate and trust account documentation and draft forms for administration.
  4. Analyze issues related to charitable fiduciary accounts, oil & gas, minerals, and tax matters.
  5. Manage engagements of external counsel and oversee analysis and deliverables.
  6. Advise on laws and regulations applicable to the Private Bank's US corporate trustee entities.
  7. Collaborate with the legal team, business units, and support functions on projects and initiatives.
  8. Ensure compliance with 12 CFR Part 9 regulatory issues.
  9. Foster a diverse, inclusive, and respectful work environment.
  10. Escalate issues appropriately and work independently.
  11. Communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  1. Juris Doctor or educational equivalent required.
  2. Minimum of 4 years of relevant trust and estate law firm, financial institution, or comparable experience.
  3. Licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state of employment.
  4. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to handle a wide variety of issues in an organized and prioritized manner.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  1. Experience in tax, charitable, digital, or regulatory matters.
  2. Ability to work independently and escalate issues appropriately.
  3. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  4. Experience managing external counsel engagements.
  5. Familiarity with laws and regulations affecting corporate trustee entities.
  6. Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  7. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
