POSITION SUMMARY
The Education Consultant/Counselor supports K–12 Comanche students in building confidence and achievement in academics — especially in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). This role focuses on guiding students to develop problem-solving skills, perseverance, and a growth mindset while exploring new learning tools such as Artificial Intelligence.
The Education Consultant/Counselor will provide individualized academic support, mentoring, and encouragement to help students thrive both inside and outside the classroom. This position also works closely with families, teachers, and community partners to foster strong educational pathways and promote college and career readiness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Academic & Career Guidance
Provide academic, career, and personal support to K–12 students, with an emphasis on STEM and math development.
Help students build problem-solving skills, confidence, and curiosity in STEM subjects.
Introduce students to Artificial Intelligence concepts and tools in age-appropriate ways.
Offer individual and group tutoring or mentoring sessions to address academic challenges and promote positive learning habits.
Collaborate with teachers to identify students who need extra academic support and develop personalized learning plans.
Family and School Collaboration
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and ways to support learning at home.
Partner with educators and administrators to strengthen schoolwide initiatives that enhance STEM engagement and achievement.
Connect with community organizations to create mentorship and enrichment opportunities for students.
Social–Emotional Learning and Student Growth
Encourage resilience, curiosity, and self-confidence through supportive mentoring.
Help students manage challenges such as math anxiety or self-doubt through positive reinforcement and coaching.Contribute to a school culture that celebrates learning, problem-solving, and inclusion.
Program and Student Support
Provide tutoring and academic assistance in core subjects such as math, science, reading, and writing.
Support student athletes with NCAA academic requirements.
Ensure high school students stay on track for graduation and postsecondary opportunities.
Assist with special education advocacy when needed.
Oversee student internships with the Comanche Nation and other community partners.
Review education policies related to American Indian education and support compliance with programs such as Johnson O’Malley, Title VI, and Impact Aid.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REPORTS TO
This position will report to the Youth Services Director.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work will be done in a variety of settings, office, classrooms, and outdoor settings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
Teaching certification or willing to seek certification
Experience working with school aged students particularly in academic support roles.
Strong understanding of child development, math instruction strategies, and STEM.
Knowledge of education best practices including understanding of Artificial Intelligence.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of best practices for American Indian education and best practices for use of federal funds for American Indian education such as Johnson O’Malley, Title VI, or Impact Aid. Preferred.
Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build relationships with students, families, and educators.
Ability to travel for school visits and community outreach activities.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and families.
Must possess a Valid Driver’s License and insurable by the Comanche Nation Insurance.
Must be able to pass a drug test.
