About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director to lead its organization, which has a rich history of celebrating and promoting jazz as a vital Black American art form. The successful candidate will serve as the chief executive officer, responsible for strategic leadership, administrative management, financial sustainability, fundraising, and public representation. This role demands a dynamic leader with a minimum of 5 years' nonprofit and/or executive leadership experience, a proven track record in fundraising, and a deep commitment to the values of the organization. The Executive Director will work in partnership with the Board of Directors and a dedicated staff to uphold and expand the legacy of presenting innovative jazz programming, with a focus on community and cultural engagement. Candidates for the Executive Director position at the company should be adept at balancing creative and operational responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on transparency, integrity, and mutual respect in leadership. The role requires a strategic and visionary thinker who is a confident and collaborative leader, capable of inspiring trust and mobilizing others. Proficiency in nonprofit financial management, budgeting, and compliance is essential, as is experience in supervising staff and managing cross-functional teams. Preferred skills include experience in curating or producing jazz programming, familiarity with the local arts and culture landscape, and a background in working with diverse communities. The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for jazz and its cultural significance, and will be committed to continuous learning, listening, and accountability.
