Job Description

Join a fast-growing, fun, and pet-loving environment at The Dog Stop® Kent! We are seeking a hands-on, motivated, and experienced General Manager to lead our new facility in Kent, WA. This is a unique opportunity to work in a rewarding industry, guide a passionate team, drive grassroots marketing efforts before opening, and deliver exceptional care and service to our furry guests and their humans.

What You'll Do:

Initially, the General Manager role will be part-time with a primary focus on grassroots community outreach marketing until the store is fully operational. You will partner with a future Dog Sitter hire to represent the brand, generate leads, and build awareness throughout the community. Once the store opens, you will transition into full-time leadership of daily operations.

You will:

  • Lead grassroots marketing and outreach to local businesses, events, and community hubs.

  • Set and execute strategic goals with the Owner(s).

  • Oversee all store operations: daycare, grooming, retail, and boarding.

  • Lead, train, and support staff to ensure excellent customer service and safe dog handling.

  • Manage inventory, payroll, scheduling, compliance, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grassroots Marketing & Outreach (Pre-Opening Priority):

    • Identify and build a list of outreach locations (veterinarians, pet stores, apartments, HOAs, parks, events).

    • Secure permission to display promotional materials and set up branded tables.

    • Attend and represent The Dog Stop at community events.

    • Distribute promotional materials and maintain a log of outreach efforts.

    • Partner with the future Dog Sitter in coordinated outreach activities.

    • Share community feedback and suggestions with the Owner.

  • Training & Development: Complete all required GM training modules and ensure staff are assigned and complete their training programs. Track and follow up on progress.

  • Team Leadership: Hire, train, manage, and motivate staff. Conduct reviews and create a positive work culture.

  • Operations: Manage facility maintenance, compliance visits, vendor relations, inventory, and supplies.

  • Customer Service: Handle inquiries, complaints, and service issues with a focus on client retention.

  • Dog Care Oversight: Ensure adherence to care protocols, supervise incident reporting, and manage behavioral assessments.

  • Financial Management: Work within budgets, monitor payroll, maintain proper staffing, and review financial reports.

  • Scheduling & Payroll: Create schedules, approve time-off requests, and ensure payroll accuracy.

  • Community Engagement: Continue fostering relationships with shelters, organize adoption drives, and coordinate outreach events.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2+ years in management, preferably in pet care, hospitality, retail, or operations.

  • Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes.

  • Proven ability to lead outreach and grassroots marketing efforts.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

  • Outgoing, friendly, and passionate about connecting with pet parents.

  • Reliable transportation for local travel.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs for event materials.

Why Join The Dog Stop® Kent?

  • Opportunity to lead a new store from pre-opening outreach to full operations.

  • Be part of a growing national brand in an in-demand industry.

  • Fun, dog-loving workplace culture.

  • Autonomy and growth potential.

How to Apply:

Submit your resume and a brief note about your experience in both management and community outreach, and why you’re excited to help launch The Dog Stop® Kent.
