Senior Data Scientist Healthcare Informatics (Houston, TX)

Northwest Talent Solutions LLC has been retained to fill this critical role on behalf of a preferred client in the Houston, TX area . This is a high-visibility opportunity for an experienced data science leader to drive innovation and impact within one of the regions most respected healthcare organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Bachelors Degree in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related STEM field (required).

    • Masters Degree in Data Science (preferred).

  • Experience:

    • 7+ years of professional experience in data science (required).

    • Healthcare, hospital setting, EHR, medical informatics, or healthcare finance/revenue cycle experience (preferred).

  • Technical Skills & Expertise:

    • Proven mastery of machine learning methods (e.g., clustering, decision trees, neural networks) and advanced statistical techniques (regression, A/B testing, distributions, statistical modeling).

    • Advanced SQL and database management experience.

    • Proficiency with statistical analysis tools and programming languages (Python, R, etc.).

    • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.

    • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, resolve complex data issues, and create scalable solutions.

    • Ability to translate complex insights into clear, compelling stories for technical and non-technical audiences alike.

  • Professional Skills:

    • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

    • Proven leadership ability to mentor and guide junior data scientists.

    • Strong decision-making, analytical reasoning, and client service orientation.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Lead high-impact data science initiatives, managing projects that directly influence organizational strategy and outcomes.

  • Mentor, coach, and supervise junior data scientists while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

  • Develop, validate, and maintain predictive models, custom algorithms, and advanced analytics tools.

  • Translate raw data into actionable insights for executives, clinicians, and operational leaders.

  • Conduct deep-dive analyses of structured and unstructured data to identify opportunities for performance improvement and operational efficiencies.

  • Partner with business and IT leaders to resolve data challenges and optimize workflows.

  • Evaluate new technologies, vendors, and tools to ensure best-in-class data science practices.

  • Present findings in clear, actionable ways to influence key decisions at the highest levels.
